I water most of my potted plants on the terrace with water I dip out of the fish pond, and I have a grocery store phalaenopsis that lives on a ledge over my indoor pond, I dip it into the pond every couple weeks to water it. I also use pothos to filter the indoor pond, they are growing in boxes above the pond and the water gets pumped up through the roots and falls back. No soil at all but the pond is crystal clear, to be fair it doesn't get more than an hour or two of full sun.

I thought about burying the lost fish in plants but I'm afraid the cats would try to dig them up. Instead I fling them into the overgrown lot next door for the feral cats. I suppose that is recycling Rolling my eyes.
A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.
