'MERLOT MAJIK' MIMOSA

NEXT-GENERATION TO 'SUMMER CHOCOLATE'

DARK PURPLE LEAF MIMOSA...

(Albizia julibrissin 'Merlot Majik' aka 'Nurcar 10')

Everything that can and has been said about 'Summer Chocolate', applies as well to it's new progeny: 'Merlot Majik'. This very new plant to the market was developed by Ted Stephens and is a selective hybrid of 'Summer Chocolate.'

Truly a beautiful addition to any sunny garden! This plant has it all!

Merlot Majik has the hardiness of all mimosas with an extended zone viability...This one is cold-hard in USDA Zones 6 through 9. It grows 20 to 30' tall at maturity. Takes the heat just as it's parent 'Summer Chocolate' does and is drought-tolerant once established. It grows faster than most mimosas and our experience to date indicates, it grows even faster than 'Summer Chocolate'.

New growth is a soft green that changes with age to a deep, deep burgundy purple. The dark leaves remain dark all summer, even in direct sun.

The flowers are a deeper pink than 'Summer Chocolate' and have a stronger scent in the summer evening. This is a high nectar plant that attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds as well. This is a particular favorite of the Monarch Butterfly so it is a favorite of ours as well!

Like all mimosas, it is hardy and durable in the garden. It should have good drainage since no minosa likes 'wet feet'! but should receive adequate moisture to become well established.

Like it's parent, 'Summer Chocolate', 'Merlot Majik' does not re-seed rampantly! In fact, it is considered sterile.

Patent Authority: This is a Patented Plant so labels and royalties costs are included in the sale price. It is illegal and punishable to reproduce this plant without authorization.

Plants for This Offer: The 'Merlot Majik' Mimosa available for sale are 2-year old liners with approximately 12" to 16" of growth above the soil line. The roots are substantial and well-developed and are currently growing in a one-gal.
