I've lost a few trees to sunscalding w/our winters here, and tree wrap is SOOO expensive considering what it is! Newspapers are so much cheaper! Another alternative is butcher paper, too, as that's waxy & can withstand moisture a bit better, and doesn't dissolve as fast.
