Maybe it's already been mentioned, but don't forget if your plant came from the north, it will grow. They won't be the huge leek sized fans. Especially spring shipping. The plants are often just starting to take off. I actually prefer a smaller,northern, early spring plant because I think they move easier and don't seem to miss a beat. A plant from the south will usually shrink in size before it adapts to the climate difference, and often time less fertilizer. The sellers in sandy soils do have to add nutrients. I suppose it all makes a difference where the plants are headed too. I'm only speaking from a northern perspective. Ohio. Oh, and buying directly from the hybridizer is always a worthwhile endeavor.
