I just spent hours on the phone with a lovely person from the oleander.org group. There have to be over 400 different types of oleanders by now. Their club is based in Galveston Texas. They are way more popular right now in Europe. Many have however been lost in WW1 and WW2.
Scorch is big in California but I haven't seen in in Phoenix. I am sorry to hear it. Living in Cave Creek I have never seen it.
I was sent 3 wonderful oleander books and I will have to look up what causes oleander. I know if you have the bug the something sharpshooter they will kill oleander and I have seen them in Mesa.
Please oleander have not been over planted! There is so much information that is not known in the US. They also have oleander that will survive in the snow.
I have several plants coming and in the spring I will be having a ton of cuttings to start. I will try and get some photos soon on the web site. Sorry but I have other things to do today and I have to help work. Some of you know that my husband had a company that keeps rats out of cars.
I now have a great source for an oleander called Splended, it is a type and not the name of a plant. (We lack so much information here) it has a double pink with a flower of 2 inches. I would be happy to give any one cuttings or small plants if anyone would like any.
