That's really odd,i have seen & have some clay pots that are all stained up with mineral deposits, which i haven't found a way to get clean!!! I have never seen a pot with a almost powdery like substance on them that my finger,a towel, paper or cloth, wet or dry will remove with no problem. We do live in i guess the best description is a hole!! The front goes up & the back goes down into a creek that you can hear running even in the summer until towards the end of a dry summer it will slow down or stop but only until the next rain.I always had problems with mold here,we have only lived here 2 years this coming up spring. My husband has owned the land since he was 19yrs .old & lived here until we got married & bought a bigger place 2 houses up the road. Before i was diagnosed with MS,i trained horses and one time tried to store some things here saddles & such, all being leather, they were covered in mold when i came back in 2 weeks.
When the girls were both out of high school and 1 married with a son,we decided to sell our home and do a total remodel on the old place and removed 20 tree's hoping by letting in some sunlight it would take care of the dampness therefore the mold problem. It has been better, this is the first thing that has popped up.The plants soil not drying out as usual & what i thought was mold on the out side of the clay pots (being they absorb water and are damp to a point)I will start a thread on mold on clay pots.
Anyway unless anyone has any different advice,i am re-potting this plant into a dry succulent mix.I am on the fence about putting it in a clay pot which i would normally do with plants that like to stay dry,the clay pots are good at keeping any extra water from staying in the soil..
Any thoughts or opinions on how to care for my plant that looks really bad.I think i need to take some cuttings in case i loose the plant.I have no idea how to propagate Lampranthus blandus 'pink vygie' any information or a link on the plant is greatly appreciated!!
