We have a flowering dogwood, but not the varigated foliage kind,and one thing that's a real "must" for any dogwood is slightly acid soil. It's a constant struggle for me, as ours is planted on the old railroad right-of-way, which is crushed limestone! I dug a hole about 5' deep and 6' in dia., filled it with "regular" soil and compost, and treat it heavy with soil sulfer and Mir-acid! It's doing "ok", but not "prospering", if you know what I mean.This year's drought has NOT helped, either!....By the way, Patchwork Puzzle would be my pick!....Arlyn
