There are different shades of pink in Japanese maples.

Here is one of my sister's Japanese maples, which turns really hot pink each December. This picture was taken just as it was approaching the pink stage.

And here was my little Geisha, which unfortunately died this last summer. I really loved it and will probably order another one of these days -- but I'll have to find a better spot where it doesn't get afternoon sun in our summer heat. And I noticed that they had a little Geisha at Mid-America Garden back in 2010 too.

And this picture is of Shaina, taken in Vancouver, Washington during our 2010 trip.

And here is Beni schichihenge, taken in the mountains near Vancouver on the same trip -- and Mid America has at least one really big Beni schichihenge too. I love the foliage on this one, but my small one was decapitated when a table full of daylilies collapsed down on it. (Pronounced "Benny Shee-chee-hengay")

Needless to say, I love the pink Japanese maples!
