Jo ann those are great pictures of your Seriyu I love the fall colors of it, I was interested in it because they told me at the time it was one of the only Lace leaf Jap Maples that grows upright like a tree, most look like a shrub with that leaf pattern think (Crimson Queen) and I also tried Coralinium no luck Thumbs down but wow what a awesome color in the spring. I saw quite a few of them in Oregon at Whitman Farms she is in the Salem area as well and specializes in rare trees, so I tried it with about 15 others Rolling my eyes. and I got 2 of them to live. I think after Iris, Maples are my favorite if I could just have Vermont in the fall in my back yard it would be perfect. There is a website that has some great pictures of Jap Maples he does a blog every week through the growing season of different Maples and he has the most varieties I have ever seen. Here is the link for some good pics if you click on the link Maples on the Move he has like the past 4 years on there.

Tom I'm glad I can help feed the addiction LOL more to come Big Grin

Mary Ann I was shocked when I found that picture I opened it up expecting to look at a field shot and did a double take Hilarious! I guess you never know when someone will be taking your picture but I couldn't help but think what a small world I was looking for pictures of Peonies and found one of myself in a Iris Field Thumbs up

Arlyn I have 2 so far both are just a couple of years growing here and I planted them in my berms with a french drain because of this rock hard clay I have in the backyard, I seem to have luck with some delicate plants as long as they drain but the Jap maples just won't take the cold here. I have only a few that seem to be growing at all most survive but not much growth. The 2 dogwoods I have one is variegated and the other is supposed to be fruit bearing it was called a Milky Way but it has not produced any. I wish I could find some of the white leafed ones like I saw in Oregon just not a lot of nurseries here that bring them in, I am guessing because they are delicate and they do not want them returned. I have been using Amur Maples there hardy and they have great fall color almost there with the Jap Maples.

Betty Those are great pictures I was hoping to see some of your Jap Maple pics, I remember you said you had some this spring I think the Shaina would have to be in my top 3 favorites the color of it in the spring is 2nd to none it really puts on a show of color and a perfect little garden tree if only you could share some of your winter weather like last year nodding I might be able to grow one.
