A bit on the weedy-looking side, but this mixed bed of Campanula medium, shrubs, grasses and spring flowering bulbs are protecting the roots and trunk of my white birch. Mowers and string-trimmers stay clear! Thumbs up

The pretty, plumy grasses here help get me through the winter. I have some prominently placed in view of almost every window. Smiling
