Lorn, those are nectarines. They're having a great year - no leaf curl this season!
Just searched images, and Seafarer's a beautiful looking lily. I'd love to know the Judith's secret to getting asiapet crosses. Wouldn't it be fantastic to raise babies like that? The seedling of mine recurves more as the flowers fully open, into the classical L. davidii form. That photo was taken early in the morning - but I do think it has the best inflorescence of its siblings, and I've made lots of crosses with it.
Temperatures around Hobart's suburbs vary hugely, due to both built and natural topography; sea and mountain breezes etc... Even in individual gardens there's such a range of microclimatic effects, that I'd have to put out multiple thermometers to monitor just what's happening here. Having driven home straight from Anthony's one warm afternoon, my own body sensors tell me that it's around 3-4 celsius cooler here, (with cold air drainage from the mountain and surrounding leafy trees and stream) perhaps more, but then I have cool shade spots and baking concrete spots - the L. candidum spent most of its time at the fringes of shade and sun. Morning light but protected from midday and afternoon. There are afternoons that could dry out a seedling pot if I'm not home, even if they've had a morning water.
