That was an interesting article, thanks for the link. My adeniums don't lose their leaves in the winter but they do flower more. I think the heat and humidity of the summer - or perhaps the drowning rains - discourage blooms.

Here's a pic of the whole plant. It does not have a very interesting caudex but it certainly loves to bloom.
