I was having a similar problem last year, plus a major scale infestation, and decided to grow them (I have two) drier this year. They're putting on lots of new growth. I water them like wintering tropicals. I had a gorgeous Macodes petola that youngest son did in during my absence. I should add it to your plant heaven thread but I'm still too devastated to accept it. It's not the only one he "deep sixed".
