I was at Lowe's doing a monthly help desk, and of course could not pass by the death rack where they shove all the orchids that have finished blooming. They mark them down to 50% to 75% off generally. Usually there are only very sick looking Phals but today . . . check out what I scored! Did a classic double-take when I saw the shape of the one little spent flower on this - it is a Bl. Yellow Bird!
Other one is a nice perky little Phal that was in a rather nice square glass vase with no drainage whatsoever. To my surprise when I got it home and extracted all the packed sphagnum, it has a mass of healthy looking roots, so the prognosis is good for that one, too. Now to decide who gets the pretty little red hole-y pot . . . ??
