Are the brown spots on the edges of the leaves or in the middle? They do need regular water, they are bog plants and need lots of water but good drainage and warmth and light but not direct sun. Some of the colocasias can take a little direct sun but not all. My guess is either that it dried out too much or has sun damage. We do love pictures here Whistling that would help a lot.

Here's a pic of one of my colocasias that has some brown spots on the edges of some of the leaves. That's because the sun has moved in the winter and those leaves get some direct sun in the afternoon. It doesn't harm the plant and it would be difficult to move it so I just let it happen.
