Anthony, I had some broken over by flying branches during a late summer storm once. I used small diameter bamboo stakes and yarn to form a splint to hold the top secure (two people make the job easier). Then I left only one pod to mature. Later that fall, when I removed the splint, I was surprized to see that a considerable amount of healing to the break had occurred, although 'woody'. I still got good seed from it (a regale type). Worth a try if not completely broken off. After the splint was made, I rewrapped the break area heavily, but loosly, with yarn again.
The next warm day that comes, I'll be breaking out my BBQ grill--almost did it today, but out of state company dropped in--so........
