gg5 said:Toni - thanks, I have to go out today and take a couple more photos...I just realized that several clumps of crocus I planted are not coming up, need to investiage Confused Maybe squirrels got to some of them afterall (I was so happy that no squirrels or rats got the the ones in back!) So for slugs I do basically nothing - or it would seem that way to others, I don't rely on what I'm growing as a food source so I can be relaxed about them. A friend told me once that you tell the slugs they can have one plant (or several) and you plant that plant with this intention, to be food for the animals...and it mostly works, every now and then something happens to the other ones, if I see slugs I don't kill them I just treat them like a weed, meaning I toss them over my shoulder towards the compost pile Hilarious! (you see why I don't grow Dahlias!) although surprisingly my hostas do okay!
Tracy, your dogs sound so cute and fun! Do sheep have personalities like goats? I love how funny goats can be, haven't spent any time around sheep though so don't know! Smiling
Good to see everyone on here! As always! Lovey dubby

My avatar shows L.E. Txiki and Binx ................

Mine seem to, not so much 'goofy', but def individuals ....... The ram (100% Dorper, Binx,) is a lover, he is VERY 'calm' ( I was kinda surprised how calm, NEVER 'forgetting' he IS a ram) the lady I got him from is very 'hands on' with her animals..... he will walk up to me and start 'circling lookin' for a free hand, so he can get a cheek rub... He will stand there as long as I will give 'im a scratch........ I have 2, 2 yr old Dorper/ St Croix cross ewes, L.E (lead ewe) and LT ( lieutenant) L.E. is like the ram, wantin' the 'scratches' (heaven forbid I 'talk' to one and not the other Rolling my eyes. ) LT, not so much she is a quiet ewe and just 'hovers'..........Then I have my 'little girls', they have just turned 1....... they too are full blooded Dorpers... The 'larger' of the 2, is Mocha, she is more a cream/brown instead of the white/black..... She is gaining confidence, but is also a 'shyer' sorta ewe ( but she takes 'crap' from NO ONE Hilarious! ) and last, but not least, Mini ........ She is small even by Dorper standards and is the shyest of all of them.......... I am gonna see what comes of the next yr.... If she fails to gain more size, more than likely I will have to 'cull' her........... My flock is for 'production and frankly food for us........... I hope she gains and throws some good lambs, cuz I like her Shrug! ....................

These ( meaning Dorpers) certainly have more 'personality' than the 'woolies' I helped with ( but that may have been because there was 1200 ewes, not a lot of time to 'socialize' Blinking )
