Hi Arlene, and welcome!

I can't give any advice as far as your climate, because I've never gardened anywhere but Ohio. But if you've got sprouts, it sounds like you've figured things out pretty well on your own! One suggestion I might offer is that those rotisserie chicken containers tend to be shallow, therefore prone to dry quickly. As weather warms and gets drier, you might want to keep them in afternoon shade and watch moisture closely.
