My son loves garlic and in 2002 he planted a 3' wide by 50' long row. I can't remember how many varieties, but it was about 10 anyway. We decided to try and sell at farmers market and we were overwhelmed with the people who wanted garlic! In a short time we were known as the garlic people. We actually sold out in 4 weekends and almost forgot to keep enough back to plant this fall.
He ordered a few more creoles this year and we doubled the amount we planted. Not sure how it will do since we didn't, up until this week, have much of a winter. Fingers crossed.
But it's an easy crop for easy money. But of course, I only help plant, mulch and keep weeded. I don't have to dry and clean it, that's the hardest part! (When you're talking that much garlic!)
We got purchased the new varieties from Whistling Duck Farm, Forever Young Farm, Hood River, Territorial and Filaree Farm
