I have never divided mine so not sure on that. I see you are in Georgia, i'm in the Northwest, Washington state. I can plant mine out in part sun but we sure don't have sun like you guys do down south. I have mine planted in dappled sun, under trees. Mostly under deciduous trees so they get the sun in the winter and shade during the summer. They like a woodland like area.

This is a really good book, The Gardener's Guide to Growing Hellebores by Gaham Rice and Elizabeth Stragman. Tells you all about the different cultivars, some will take more sun. Maybe your Library will have a copy.
