I had a Purple Smoke bush. Didn't like it. Couldn't kill it (dog actually broke it down to the dirt one winter & it was 4' tall the next summer), but didn't like how leggy it was. Thinking of putting a holly there.. gets way too much shade for almost anything else. And HTs are fine! I have lots & lots of HTs that made it through the winter here just hunkydory.
