I put florist pins to hold semps that have roots or don't have roots so that they are nestled into the moss until time that they get established. Newly planted semps that have roots don't necessary sit into the soil when gravity take over. I just pin whatever needs the support. Semps with root ball usually can be held into frame when you work the soil and moss back over the hole that the root ball went into.
My chx wire and moss and soil supplemented with pins if needed works ok for me. I have seen that people do frames without moss or without wire (or wire spaced too far apart) and that to me seems to lend itself to the problem of things falling out when there are no roots or root ball.
