Sharon.. i was on a friends roof... installing a metal containment fence against a metal fence that had large spacing in it... last year I'd streached a bunch of plastic deer fencing upon it.. and this Beddington terrier had clawed his way through.. and escaped to a neighbors roof... now the new metal will keep this young lad contained.. the 8' tall fence was in the backyard of a building two doors over and behind her 2nd floor roof.. still a bit large considering with horizontal reverse wood slats.. the entire fence was a ladder... so it wasn't people they were excluding..maybe they were escaping a fire ..and over the fence.. with that design.. the main purpose of reverse boarding is to let some wind trough to minimise pancaking of the plants behind it.. with the wind hitting the fence and coming down from above.. but where they were they don't get any wind.. guess it was to provide some draft in a low sheltered area... got me.. Shrug!
the wood was a soft pinkish color after sanding.. perhaps a redwood or cedar .. but why sand it.... before staining..ok..an even coat of stain.. like you'd like to see on some fine woodwork...
