I love the idea of using cinder blocks. I've been using reclaimed bricks and rocks for years to terrace our gently sloping lot. This spring I did a week-end project terracing a corner of a woodland garden. It was surprisingly easy. The photos are of old path liners and a terraced area close to the house. Funky but it has been added onto over 30 years. Yes, moss is encouraged.
