I have used epsom salts several times but I don't intend on ever using it again. A master gardener that lives in my area said that our soil here in southern Michigan is already saturated with magnesium and he recommended not using epsom salts. If you already have too much magnesium in your soil, epsom salts will actually stunt the growth of plants instead of helping them. I guess it would be good to get a soil testing kit and check your soil before using it. One year I was out of fertilizer and decided to use tomato fertilizer on the daylilies and that year I had the best bloom ever.
