John was the first person who came up and talked to me when I attended my first club meeting, and likely the reason I came back the second time. He was a long time club member, devoted to daylilies, and beloved by many in our club. His knowledge of daylilies was vast . He loved spiders and unusual forms, had begun hybridizing them, and would have been so pleased to see this daylily that Patrick named for him
