Today was my day to plant vegetables, but our forecast for the next 3 days is large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes. We had rain and hail yesterday, but it was just dime sized. The inch of rain was welcome, though! Last year, my first batch of vegetables, along with everything else, was ruined by hail. The next set was eaten by critters. The next died of heat and dry wind because I had to leave for a weekend.
The plumbers are coming this morning, hopefully, to replace the well pump, but I still don't have outdoor hydrants.
Ever the optimist, I'm still ordering roses and planting trees and vegetables.
Mike's Pinata photo is lovely. That's one of the roses I just bought, so that tells me just where to plant that one. Someday I'll learn to select a site before I buy the rose.
My order from Edmunds has not broken dormancy. Ten roses, all asleep. Everything else has. Last year, I had several from them that never did wake up. I've cut back the canes and they've been watered, but I noticed when they arrived that the canes were not covered in plastic, and the roots were just in dry spagnum moss. I'll call them today. Any suggestions on getting them to grow? Sweating them isn't an option unless I dig them back up. Confused Blinking
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
