... Blizzard Warning in effect from midnight tonight to 6 PM MDT Tuesday...
The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Blizzard Warning... which is in effect from midnight tonight to 6 PM MDT Tuesday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.
* Timing... rain will quickly change to snow by mid to late evening. The snow may be very heavy for a brief time this evening with steadier snowfall expected Tuesday.
* Snow accumulations... 6 to 12 inches.
* Wind/visibility... north 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Visibilities will drop below a quarter mile during periods of heavier snowfall and stronger winds. The most persistent blizzard conditions can be expected Tuesday.
* Impacts... travel will be extremely hazardous as roads will become icy and snowpacked due to blowing and drifting snow and very cold temperatures. Roads closures may occur.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions... making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded... stay with your vehicle.
