It's not nearly as bad as it could have been, so I'm grateful. The shrubs and trees are about 2 weeks behind this year, so really the only trees that are leafed out are pears, peaches and willows,. Bradford pears in particular are very weak in ice storms. The newer cultivars hold up much better. Many of our trees were already weakened from the drought.
My roses are leafed out, and most have been pruned, so I'm crossing my fingers that this cold weather doesn't cause more die back.
We'll certainly learn which roses are hardiest! I cut hundreds of daffodils last night. I'll see if I can post pics of them somewhere since I have names for most of them. They were beautiful.
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
