It's been some time since I've been on ATP, moving and all has kept me too busy.Great idea to talk about some of the hybridizers, especially if they have plants that do well in your area. Many people don't realize that the Stamile's came from Long Island, NY before they made their move to FL. I was fortunate to be able to visit their garden down in FL a couple of times and I always felt like I was going into a candy shop.... so many different colors, sizes and forms, I couldn't take it in fast enough. I don't grow many of their newer daylilies but going through some of my pics shows me I have a few older that will stand the test of time. Many of their earlier daylilies are very hardy up in New England. The pics below were all taken in my old garden in NH. Take care, Karin

Arctic Lace - one of my favorites and will always have in my garden. I think this daylily is very white with great substance, has increased well for me and reblooms.

SEMINOLE WIND is another Stamile that I will always have in my garden. It's a lovely pink and in it's time was used greatly as a parent.

BOUNDLESS BEAUTY if you like ruffles this is a beauty and it is a large size blooming flower, unfortunately it is prone to hanging up a trait of many heavily ruffled daylilies, one that I know folks are working on breeding out. It is a later bloomer which is nice.

FIRST TWILIGHT is a daylily that I think every northerner should try in their garden. It is one of my earlier bloomers and reblooms. Each flower seems to open well and show itsef beautifully with no problems, It is hardy with no mulch.

I need to get some of Grace's little ones!

LONG STOCKING is one of the first daylilies that I ever had in my garden and it became a focal point in one of them when this clump was in bloom. It's interesting to note that many of the Stamile's older daylilies that I grow are evergreens but are hardy with no mulch in my gardens.

MICHAEL MILLER is a great white daylily, another evergreen that I always look forward to seeing bloom. It has large blooms that show themselves upward so they always put on a nice display. This one might benefit from a little mulch but it has bloomed for me every year for over five years and the flowers never hang up.
.

VICTORIAN LACE another hardy evergreen that has grown in my garden with no mulch. Love the ruffles and the flowers usually did not hang up
Life is short, enjoy the ride!
