Betsy, I was in the area under the I-10 bridge between Texas and Louisiana.
Iris giganticaerulea is call Blue Flag or Giant Blue Flag. I. versicolor is Northern Blue Flag. In the wild I. versicolor only grows in the northeast part of the US.
