We haven't seen many of them since the 2008 - 2009 drought started. Every 5 years or so, a neighbor organizes a hog hunt and get permission to sweep through the area. A date is set and the hunt is on. Hunters on muleback accompanied with packs of hunting dogs come from as far as Colorado. They usually bag several dozen hogs. That stops the damage for a few years.
