Since reading about this last spring in the hugelkultur forum, I use this method with all my new beds now, in a modified form. I plant flowers, not veggies, and I frame the beds with landscape timbers, then fill with whatever wood I can find, let it sit for 6-9 months before filling in with dirt, etc. In the meantime, I'll add grass clippings, kitchen scraps, etc. to make the worms and microbes happy. I've built 2 beds this way so far, and have 2 more planned for this year. Thumbs up
