I've tried growing under lights before, (just vegetable starts) and I think to do it properly would require a good investment of both funds and growing room, (both of which are not available to me). The veggies I started under lights tended to be tall and lanky, no where near as sturdy as plants under full outdoor sun. I'm fairly sure I didn't provide the proper light spectrum/intensity, or both, since I know next to nothing about growing under artificial lights. Growing in Alaska might be interesting with those incredibly long-light days, and months of darkness, where lights would be a must.
I plan on reading your book, of course.
Your Molokai flowers are very different in form from your Samoan Fluff, aren't they? Spread out, not bunched together in a cluster, like the Samoan.
Is the Molokai Rainbow fragrant?
