Peppermint Delight is a climber, Nery, and I'm afraid it isn't available in commerce anymore. It's one of those roses I bought long ago from the J&P catalog. So many of them have disappeared, and for no good reason: This one has been living under a huge Lady Banks rose for at least 20 years and has survived in spite of that. I used to just see small clusters of its blooms way at the top of the Banksia rose, but this year I pruned the Banksia back because it was knocking over several arbors, and now the Peppermint Delight is going to town big-time.

Striped roses are always striped here, but maybe it's because of our cold nights. I think the climate here is perfect for roses -- hot days and cold nights. It does cause OGR's to mildew, but I avoid growing them whenever I can. Modern roses never suffer from mildew in my garden.

The umbrella trellis was a birthday gift from DrDon, whom you may remember from DG, several years ago. He made it and drove it up here from Temecula in a van.
