I have free range chickens too, and they don't go by the iris beds. (except to do weeding, but that's a whole new joke/story you'll have to dig out of old posts, lol) You use the product in the early spring, and then it's obsorbed by the plant and kills the borer. it's the same stuff that kills lawn grub worms.
Politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed often, and for the same reason.
