To be a Heucherella it would have to have been crossed with Tiarella. There are many Heuchera with different colored veining , a good example is Green Spice. As for it being a test , I would guess they almost all are in a way. I would think any good breeder would be working toward a better plant next time. Or that when he is trying to get a certain look , something else comes up that they think is worthy of release.
