Jim, I must thank you again, I think you've ID'd the big blooming bromeliad I got from Selby a couple of years ago. Pretty sure mine is the same as your Portea Petropolitana.

Red pentas going to town out front c/w butterfly adornments. Red firecracker sticks its fine fingers through the pool cage screening, then blooms. Sadly I must prune it as the flowers mess up the pool.
