Zuzu, Yes it is possible that the roots on Sunsprite are its own. I did not examine the roses for a bud union. I just noticed that the roots were definitely not Dr. Huey.

I really can't understand why CA would be on the restricted list unless r. fortuniana is considered a noxious weed in CA. J&P frames the list oddly. Most of the entries are on it not because of state restrictions, I think, but because of freezing temperatures.

After just two years of living in AZ I'm used to thinking of it as having the most restrictive plant importation rituals and laws; but fortunately fortuniana rootstock does not figure among them.
