Well, I guess I'm going to have to leave water out for my "mowers" out front. I was up early watering and saw a doe across the street sauntering through the neighbors' front yard. She saw me, but wasn't budging. I went into the backyard and left the gate open. The next time I went around the house, I was carrying the base of a plant stand. There's a 3' wall along my sidewalk by that gate. I met that deer face to face, as she was standing on the wall.... She didn't move as fast as I did, but I slammed the gate and ran in to get my camera. By the time I found the camera and got back outside, she was back across the street nudging a fawn up from behind the neighbors' bushes. It was too sweet... I followed them up the street until they went between two houses where there's no back fencing. I got a quick pic and then they were gone. I think the doe was looking for water, more than food. I think she was planning to visit the backyard...
I have a big rock with an indention that I used to fill with water out front, but the dogs found it and the walkers would let their dogs go up into my flower bed dragging the leashes over my flowers to get to the water. I finally quit filling it in frustration. I'll find something else, and leave it out where there's no plants......

We're having lots of birds in backyard, but blessedly....no grackles now. I noticed when we came back from the lake, the trees were "quiet." Don't know where they went, but glad to see them go!!!
