We used to have quite a number of rat snakes. They kept the rats out of the barn; they probably ate a few gophers. They also stole eggs from my chickens' nest boxes. I put some ceramic eggs in a couple of new nest boxes to get my chickens to accept them. These decoys gradually disappeared, so I may have inadvertently killed a few rat snakes.
