I'd like to plant a Sweet Autumn Clematis along our fence. It's a sturdy, 6 foot fence but we've had bad experiences with wisteria and trumpet vines (planted by the previous owners of our home) that just won't die no matter what we do. We put the fence in and I'm apprehensive planting anything that could damage it due to weight or by thick vines getting in between the fence boards and possibly pulling them apart.
Any words of wisdom from the panel of experts? I tip my hat to you.
