I have an area next to the driveway where I have planted several "rows" of roses. The ones at the west end are thriving the east enders have to compete with several medium sized trees. They still get full sun several hours a day and are never in deep shade. I'm guessing that they are doing poorly due to the competition from the trees' roots. Several of you seem to have trees in your rose gardens, is there some trick to easing their coexistence?
