woofie, we knew that there was one when we moved here. Several people mentioned it, but it was a couple of miles down the road, and there had been no recent sightings. Last week our neighbor said one ran in front of her when she was driving, about a mile in the opposite direction. She had talked to some people in that area, and they saw a pack killing one of their lambs, right near where the Penstemon is growing. That made us nervous. We aren't worried about them attacking us, but like you said, they will attack dogs. Coyotes are everywhere here too, and we see them all the time, pretty close to the house. Those make me nervous too, but the wolves are different. My Mom's brother lived in Alaska most of his life, and he had dogs that got into it with wolves on more than one occasion. He ended up with a hybrid litter once as well.

Here is the picture, which is lousy at best. The deer is to the left of center, and the wolf is all the way over on the right side, just below the green clump of bushes in the middle of the brown area. I cropped out the wolf, but it's really blurry.
