Thanks Michele! I figured that it must have something to do with selling them after I asked about it, but didn't think about them looking better when they had more energy for growth of the plant instead of the seeds. Makes perfect sense now!

I'm not going to do any pollinating this year. If things bloom, great. If not, even better! I haven't looked at the daylilies in a couple of days because it's been raining, and the garden is a muddy mess, but I won't be surprised to find a few more scapes. If there are multiple scapes on some of them, I may cut all but one off. If they are stunted, I'll probably cut those off too. And if the plant looks bad, the scape will go! I just hate the thought of doing that!
