...Judy, I don’t know how helpful any of this will be to you, since you’re in an entirely different micro-climate than I am. I have family that I visit in Davis, so I do know how extraordinarily hot Sacramento gets not just in the summer, but in the spring, too! I’ve never experienced ‘summer dormancy’ in the mild Bay Area climate, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you did.
These are really pretty! Fascinating the difference in Memorable Kisses from what yours blooms like and what you were expecting. And I do definitely know what you mean about plants performing/looking differently in different areas. I've got a friend in IN that sometimes the plants she has looks VERY different from what I have. Cinnamon Roll is a very good example...
My Garden:
Hers gets way, way more cinnamon on it, much more dense and noticeable.
Thanks for the list too. Will have to go looking those up!
I've never seen a daylily bloom in the winter! Do send a pic! Gotta know what that looks like!
Summer dormancy??? Not sure I know what that means in regards to the daylilies...I'm sorta presuming it has to do w/rebloom tho? I just always figured it was "normal" for the rebloomers to wait awhile to send up new scapes for rebloom...
And yes you are very correct we do often get hot days in spring! Spring for us is...short and early...Summer starts early for us...Beginning of May usually!
And the rain! I personally am loving it as a nice break but how weird is that! We did get more this morning too and it is still cloudy. But by Thurs. it's supposed to be back to the mid-90's. Oh yeah! And now I have that song stuck in my head!
