Lynn just read that link you posted and it is pretty much on target. I felt nothing when bitten. I was working in the barn and we assume when I was hammering I must have distrubed the spider. The ER had no idea it was a BR bite and advised ice. Gradually it got worse. By Wed I knew I was in trouble and needed to be home. The bite was blue black right from the start and about the size of a dime then. The swollen area was about 3" across. At it's worse the back of my lower leg and about 3" of the upper were the color of red velvet with white spots aroune the black bite spot. It felt like a third degree burn with sharp stabbing pains.
Damage to me is pretty much as described in the article for older people and I'm anemic to boot. Since I'm also allergic to wasp and bees I suspect I was extra suceptible .

Be careful out there folks! I had long jeans and sock on when it happened. Got bit anyway.
