Hi Della: This method works especially well if you're going to use retangular or square pots. Placing them around in the standard 1 gallon pots is a little more difficult. If I need to move the sprouts around a little, I use a tweezer and small 6mm spatula to get them into position. My experience is the sprouts survive this practice very well. But, it's not the only method I use. Sometimes I take a shortcut and sow directly in the baggies and pots too. Like this year, I came upon about a hundred 1 gallon pots for darn near free. I got set up with them and sowed directly in 30 of them and everything worked out well. I sowed directly in 12 baggies as well; good results there, too. So I took the easy, lazy way this year and still have more than enough seedlings to evaluate my crosses. But again, the horizontal baggie method always gives me the best germination. If I only have 10 good seeds of something I really want--it's my first and only choice.
