One only has to look at creation to
Daylilies
I bought this one last year and it bloomed for me this summer on scapes around 34" high. I'm sure good bloom and scape height has to do with the amount of sun and water it gets, and the maturity of the plant. If it doesn't work well in one spot, then move it and see what happens.
