I have an A. Wilkesiana too, don't know which one. It's true that they lose much of their colors when they don't get enough sun. The trees have grown behind mine and it has a lot more green and less color. The more colorful leaves are on top and on the side that gets more sun. It's a really hardy shrub here, I have to cut it back all the time or it would take over. While I see in the pics that something has taken a few bites out of it, in general it doesn't have problems with bugs.

A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.
